OK, here's a hot deal for you. This is some really great coffee, a constant favorite of ours for its awesome nutty flavor. However, we have *way* too much of it on hand right now, so everyone needs to be clicking the button over there and having the chance to enjoy it before it goes all baggy. Much too tasty (and voluminous at this point) to waste on grinder cleaning and garden compost! This price is like, Costco cheap. Notice the extra, extra deep discount for 5 pounds - flood your holiday office party with a tanker-load of really fantastic coffee. The Huehue profile is a sweet, lilting cup with a rich acidity, and this one is no exception. Shows a smooth depth that will leave you craving a second cup. Chock full of nuttiness - that's really the big flavor that will jump out at you. Roasted just deep enough to bring out the power, without the roast killing the delicacy that makes it so great. |

| Costa Rican Dota/Tarrazu Roast: Light Full City Our supplier started offering "micro-lots" of these Costas in '07, and this is some very exciting coffee. A single container load of bags was shipped in from this in-between region, and some of the lots were as small as seven bags. Lots of interesting information was available regarding these coffees, right down to the farmers' names. Our "#51" is called El Llano, and carries the label of the well-run Hermosa mill. This is some really tasty, meticulously prepared stuff; very uniform dark green beans. We've been roasting it fairly light, but just deep enough to put a roasty edge on the huge, sweet, round chocolatey fruit that explodes out of this cup. Very nice balance, but leans a little more toward the body end of the scale with very delicate acidity. You. Will. Love. This. Coffee. |

| Organic Bolivian Cenaproc Roast: Light Full City This is another smooth, chocolaty Latin, with a little more acidic snap. This is the third time we've stocked this coffee, and the Cenaproc co-op has proven to be really consistent in producing super clean, uniform product. It's pretty obvious in the cup that this coffee was treated correctly from the time the seed was put in the ground until the beans were put in the bag. Very nice stuff. |

Colombian Huila Valencia 15+ Screen Roast: Full City Yet another coffee we've stocked repeatedly, because it's always good, and our Taste of Milan espresso wouldn't be the same without it. This Huila is one of the coffee-est-tastin' coffees ever, time after time. I can't say that it's floral, powerfully acidic, huge bodied, chocolaty, fruity, winey or any of those typical notes you might find in fancy coffees. Just a big, bold, roasty, lightly sweet coffee flavor that's immediately familiar when it hits your tongue. In the past we've referred to this as either Huila Valencia or Mercedes, and the previous ones we've had have been "Supremos," which is a term that's been used for decades in Colombia to signify their finest coffees...however, their whole grading system revolved around bean size, not overall cup quality. The modern coffee industry has seen the error in this logic and come to the conclusion that Size Doesn't Matter. There are still plenty of Supremos and Excelsos on the market, but more and more of these certain-screen-size-or-larger types are becoming available. There's not the kind of variance one might see in an Ethiopian or Yemen, but the screening just isn't as strict as with a Supremo. The result is a tastier, more complex cup. |

Nicaraguan
Dipilto Prodecoop Roast: Full City This Nicaraguan was a great surprise; we bought it without cupping at the recommendation of our supplier, and it is truly delicious coffee. A super balanced cup with very mild acidity and just enough body to satisfy. Displays very gentle floral, fruity, nutty, chocolaty sweetness...hard to stop at just one cup. Taken just to the beginning of second crack, to bring a delicate roastiness to the smooth complexities of this fine bean. |
